Sainj Hydro Power project is a run-of river project has been developed on river Sainj, a tributary of river Beas in Kullu district and comprises a diversion barrage on the river Sainj near village Niharni and underground power house on right bank of river Sainj near village Suind. The project has a 6.36 km long Headrace Tunnel of 3.85 m diameter with two turbines of 50 MW. Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL) has recently commissioned first 50 MW unit of 100 MW Sainj Hydro Power project. The unit is synchronized with northern grid through Parvati-Kol Dam transmission line. HCC was awarded the EPC contract to construct the Sainj Hydroelectric Power Project by HPPCL in August 2010. The project will generate 399.57 GWh in a 90% dependable year and 436.90 GWh in a 50% mean year pattern of flow. The second unit of 50 MW would also be commissioned soon.
