Bihar's Chief Minister has recently laid the foundation for seven works worth Rs 64.43 crore under the Western Koshi Canal Project. Some of these projects include the extension of the Sikrahta-Manjhari lower embankment for another 4.6-KM from Parsauni to Mahisa village. This will help to protect the people in the Koshi region from recurring floods. Further, the left embankment of Bhutahi Balan river would be extended by another 6.6-KM up to the Ghoghardiha-Nirmali link road. Due to this extension, the residents of 56 villages of Ghoghardiha and Phulparas blocks would be saved from the damages caused by flash floods of Bhutahi Balan river.
