Agartala Airport modernisation work is planned by Airports Authority of India (AAI) to commence from January 2017 as the design is finalised. The airport revamp project in the state of Tripura is estimated to cost around Rs 438 crore. The completion is targeted by 2020. The project comprises construction of a new terminal building that can service 1200 passengers in a day, six new aprons, runway extension, etc. Around 72 acre of land is allocated by the state government to the AAI.
