Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Mansukh L. Mandaviya has recently informed the Rajya Sabha about the initiatives taken up by the ministry of road transport and highways to take up detailed review of National Highways network with a view to improve the road connectivity to coastal, border and backward areas, religious places and tourist places. The Ministry has also taken up review of construction, rehabilitation, widening of major bridges and Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) and Railway Under Bridges (RUBs) on National Highways. Improvement of newly declared NHs providing connectivity to District Head Quarters, road connectivity towards integration with Sagarmala, Connectivity Improvement Program for Char-Dham (Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri & Gangotri in Uttarakhand) etc., under proposed new programmes has also been reviewed.
