Transport Department of Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to make use of technology in testing the vehicle fitness conditions, using automated test systems, enhancing the drivers skill and enforcement of law. The overall aim is to improve road safety and minimise accidental deaths in the state. The Centre has promised to sanction 10 Inspection Certification (IC) Centre across the country. The state of Andhra Pradesh is keen to have three such centres in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool. The initial cost of Rs 15 crore per center would be borne by the Government of India.
