The Government of Maharashtra is pushing forward the proposed Pune metro project. In June, the project would be taken up for discussion with the Public Investment Board (PIB). The state government hopes to complete the required formalities and aims to issue the tender in the current year. The metro project will have two routes, one connecting Vanaz and Ramwadi and the second connecting Swargate and Pimpri Chinchwad. The detailed project report and alignment plans are already in place. Funding is an issue to be sorted out. The state government is likely to approach World Bank in this regard.
