The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has recently approved the development of 8/6 laning of Delhi-Meerut Expressway - Package-II – Uttar Pradesh Border to Dasna Section of NH-24 in Uttar Pradesh. The project is estimated to cost Rs.1983.51 crore including cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation and other pre-construction activities. The total length of the road will be approximately 19 km. The project is part of National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase-VI. The approval is in Hybrid Annuity Mode. The project is expected to expedite the improvement of infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh and in reducing the time and cost of travel for traffic, particularly heavy traffic, plying between ‘Delhi-Meerut’ Uttar Pradesh Border to Dasna section on National Highway-24. The development of this stretch will also help in uplifting the socio-economic condition of the concerned regions of the State. It would also increase employment potential for local labourers for project activities.
