The water crisis in the state of Maharashtra has prompted ONGC to set up a desalination water treatment plant with 20 MLD capacities at a cost of Rs 439-crore at its Uran unit. The plant would ensure continuous supply of water that is required for oil refining process and value addition of natural gas. The water would be treated through reverse osmosis process. Once the project gets nod from MCZMA, the approval of MoEF and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board will be sought.
