Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha has recently informed the Lower House about the Bullet Train project. In July 2015, the feasibility study got completed for the 505-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed corridor. The cost for this project is estimated at Rs 98,000 crore. The study was jointly conducted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Indian Railways. The Government of Japan has given an assistance package proposal for Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed corridor involving technical, Operation & maintenance (O&M) and financial assistance to the tune of 81% of project cost met through loan. The interest and other terms have not been finalised.
