An inter-ministerial Apex Committee headed by Madhusudan Prasad, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development has approved State Annual Action Plans (SAAP) of Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, Odisha and Jharkhand. These five states account for 81 mission cities. Out of the total project outlay of Rs 5,748 crore, the Central assistance is to the extent of Rs 2,440 cr while the rest would be contributed by state governments and urban local bodies. These states aim to improve basic infrastructure deliverables including water supply and sewerage connections under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) action plans for the year 2015-16.
