Jun 05, 2022 Excavation work for two 700MW N-Power plant at Kaiga begins Indias atomic power major, Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) began the excavation work for construction of two 700 MW power plants at Karnatakas Kaiga. According to the NPCIL, the two units - fifth and sixth- at Kaiga are part of the ten indigenous 700 MW Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) sanctioned by the government.

The second unit of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) has reached 100 percent capacity (1000 MW) recently. Rosatom from Russia constructed the nuclear power plant, which is now being operated by NPCIL. The work on constructing Units III and IV would begin soon.
