The investor-backed startup specialising in lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles EVs and energy storage systems has begun construction of a manufacturing plant in Chennai’s Ambattur Industrial Estate. This facility will have the capacity to produce 400 MWh per year of lithium-ion batteries.

The Hyderabad-based electric mobility solutions and services company has signed a memorandum with the Telangana government to set up a greenfield manufacturing facility for its range of electric three- wheelers at an investment of Rs. 150 crore. The plant will be built over a period of five years.

South Korean electric vehicle maker Edison Motors will invest almost Rs. 5,000 crore to set up a production facility in Uttar Pradesh. The company has proposed to invest Rs. 500-700 crore in Phase-I, Rs. 1,000-1,500 crore in Phase-II and Rs 2,000-3,000 crore in Phase-III of its electric vehicle plant, and is scouting for land near Lucknow.

The first public e-vehicle charging station in East Delhi Patparganj has been inaugurated. The charging station is set up under a partnership between power distribution company BYPL and EV Motors India Pvt Ltd. The station is equipped with two types of chargers, and two vehicles can be charged simultaneously from each charger.

The company has plans to set up its plant at Adityapur Industrial Area, the biggest auto manufacturing hub of Asia, for which it is is gearing up to enter into an agreement with a Jamshedpur-based company. The company will initially launch Completely Built Units (CBU) in India.

Faradion Ltd has partnered with Infraprime Logistics Technologies (IPLTech) for high energy sodium-ion batteries that will be used in commercial vehicles in the Indian market. Faradion is accelerating large scale industrialisation of its safe, low cost sodium-ion energy storage technology.

The company plans to set up around 2,000 EV charging facilities across the country during this financial year. So far, it has installed over 300 such charging stations in India. Recently, the company entered into a MoU with natural gas major GAIL India for the development of such projects.

The company has signed an MoU with Tellus Power Green under which Tellus Power will supply DC fast chargers as well as AC ones for electric vehicles in India. Tata AutoComp and Tellus will now start rolling out chargers ranging from 3kW to 11kW for home and residential complexes, office premises and even malls.

The company has successfully passed the quality test for its new chemical product, lithium titanate, which is used for the making lithium titanate batteries (LTO), and is set to explore the commercial aspect. The company is in talks with several agencies for the production of LTO batteries.
