India’s second-largest hospital chain operator, plans to invest $450 million over the next four years as it gears up to add capacity after the country’s health care system last year was overwhelmed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

As Covid-19 patients in Andhra Pradesh rush for better health care facilities in other state capitals, Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy is planning to set up 16 health hubs across the state. This comes after the Telangana government denied entry for ambulances from Andhra Pradesh with Covid-19 patients.

Mining in Rajasthan has seen an unprecedented boom in activity, with the government garnering revenue of Rs. 535 crore so far in the ongoing fiscal year. The government earned Rs. 297 crore in April and Rs. 238.39 crore till May 23, despite Covid-19 pressures. Officials have been directed to curb illegal mining.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board may grant another extension to about 185 city gas distribution projects hit by the second wave of Covid-19. This would help city gas licensees avoid penalties for missing work programme targets and avail extended exclusivity period.

Odisha has approved a stimulus package of Rs. 289.42 crore for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that have been facing challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The package includes measures such as interest subvention, top-up subsidy, reimbursement of state GST and waiver of annual institutional maintenance charges.

The electric vehicle (EV) market is likely to be a Rs. 50,000-crore opportunity in India by 2025, with two- and three-wheelers expected to drive higher electrification of the vehicles in the medium term in the wake of Covid-19, according to a report by Avendus Capital.

As many as 66 product licences have been issued by Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) to 37 pharma companies for azithromycin since the Covid-19 outbreak. Azithromycin has been included into the standard treatment protocol for Covid-19. Also, as many as 68 companies received the Gurajat FDCA nod to manufacture HCQ.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is considering a proposal to finance a $500-million project in India to strengthen country's national health care systems. The scope of funding will also include the purchase of equipment and detection capacity as country battles the Covid-19 pandemic.
