The Kerala government has allocated Rs. 120 crore in the state budget for improving school infrastructure. Among the steps to be taken, solar panels will be installed in all schools and labs will be renovated. The government will also ensure that each household has a laptop and high-speed internet connectivity.

The Ministry of Railways has given in-principle approval to the Rs. 66,000 crore Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod semi-high speed rail (SHSR) corridor project, a joint venture of the Kerala government and the Railways.

Kannur International Airport Ltd (KIAL), the special purpose vehicle created by the Kerala Government is implementing the airport project. L&T is the project EPC contractor. So far around 90% of the terminal building construction work is over. After rains the work on the runway and safety area would resume. The project is likely to complete by September 2018.

The Smart City Kochi project is jointly promoted by Dubai Holding and Kerala Government. The project is coming up in an IT/ITES Special Economic Zone spread over 246-acre

The Kerala Government and the Centre is jointly constructing Kochi Metro at an approved cost of Rs 5,181 cr. The project comprises 25.612 km, out of this around 18-km is likely to be commissioned by June, 2016 and the rest by June, 2017.

The Port Trust is awaiting a nod from the Union Government for allotment of 1.62 ha to Kerala Government for setting up a 12 million litres per day-capacity sewage treatment plant (STP). The proposed STP will also be used to handle domestic sewage and sewage from the vessels calling at the port.
