British metals tycoon Sanjeev Gupta is aiming to buy at least half a dozen smaller steel plants in India by 2025 after losing out on bigger purchases in the second-biggest producer of the metal. GFG Alliance recently bought Metaliks Ltd under the insolvency law and plans to start production at the 500,000 tons a year facility next month.

Alloy steel producer SLR Metaliks has invested Rs. 60-70 crore during the Covid-19 lockdown to increase its manufacturing capacity by over 33 per cent to 4 lakh tonne. This capacity enhancement is expected to result in an increase in revenue by 25 per cent by FY22.
