The foundation stones were recently laid for 11 development projects, including the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor (from Eastern Peripheral Expressway Junction to Dehradun) which will be built at a cost of around Rs. 8,300 crore rupees. It will reduce the travel time from Delhi to Dehradun from six hours to around 2.5 hours.

VMC has readied a detailed project report for executing corridor improvement plan at a cost of Rs. 200 crore for a length of 39 km covering MG Road, Eluru Road, Samba Murthy Road and BRTS Road. L&T was appointed the consultant agency and a ground-level study has been conducted considering the geographical conditions.

A jetty of 20 million gallon capacity and pump house along with two drinking water treatment plants of 10MGD capacity each, constructed by KMDA, have been inaugurated. A 112-km pipeline from the treatment plant will supply purified water across Howrah and two 4.5 km pipelines will bring in the untreated water.

The TN Housing Board is building the first phase of the Thirumazhisai Satellite Township Project on 122.99 acres at a cost of Rs. 245.70 crore. It has also been learnt that the satellite township will have a new bus terminus at Kuthambakkam.

Construction companies which have evinced interest to take up the construction of Rs. 600 crore new secretariat complex have sought mobilisation advance and extension of the construction period from 12 months to 18 months. Tata Projects, Shapoorji Pallonji, Larsen and Toubro (L&T), Mumbai-based JMC projects and Uttar Pradesh Project Ltd, a UP state government undertaking have purchased the bid documents.

The Kalrock Capital-Murari Lal Jalan consortium has proposed to re-launch Jet Airways as a full-service carrier, with an initial investment of Rs. 1,000 crore. It has initiated discussions with lessors and international airlines for contracts and partnerships. The committee of creditors recently voted for the consortium over the FSTC-Imperial Capital combine.
