The Central government is likely to undertake a Rs. 3,000 crore project to further improve Assam's water transportation on the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers to boost trade in the entire northeastern region and the neighbouring states. A virtual discussion was recently held in this regard.

The Centre has approved setting up a Western dock at Paradip port at a cost of Rs. 3,000 crore, which will transform it into a world-class port. The cost includes development of the new Western Dock on BOT basis and capital dredging by the selected concessionaire.

The state water resources department has invited tenders for construction of lift irrigation schemes to divert water from Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanti to Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanti. Tenders to enhance drinking supplywater to the seven Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL)-affected villages have also been floated.

A piped drinking water project for a population of 60,000 living in 11 gram panchayats of Brahmagiri block and 10 GPs of Puri Sadar would be set up at an estimated cost of Rs. 106 crore. A drinking water treatment plant would be established on five acres of land near Malatipatpur village.

L&T’s Water and Effluent Treatment business has secured an EPC order in Gujarat to execute a package in the SAUNI Yojna Link 3. Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation (SAUNI) is a project launched to fill various reservoirs by diverting floodwaters from the Sardar Sarovar Dam across the Narmada river to drought-prone areas.

L&T’s Water and Effluent Treatment business has secured multiple EPC orders for the execution of rural piped water supply schemes in various districts of Madhya Pradesh. The projects are part of Jal Jeevan Mission and cover the districts of Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Agar Malwa Et Singrauli.

WPIL has received a letter of intent from Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam for two projects for aggregating to Rs. 851.31 crore. The scope of work includes engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, trial run and operation and maintenance of various components of Vaidan-1 Multi Village Scheme in Singrauli.
