Work on India’s first cable-styled bridge, also called the Anji bridge, is in full swing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Raesi district. When it is completed, the bridge will be an engineering marvel of Indian Railways. It will connect Katra and Reasi, with a total length of 473.25 m. It is supported by 96 cables.

UAE-based Lulu Group International plans to set up a food processing centre in Srinagar for sourcing a wide range of agri products from Jammu and Kashmir.

Ircon International has invited bids for works on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla BG Railway Link. The scope includes balance work of cut slope stabilisation including earthwork in excavation and filling, sub-soil drainage system, reinforced earth wall and other slope support system, etc for Sumber Station yard on the Dharm-Qazigund section.

L&T Constructions Power Transmission and Distribution Business secured a package to provide electrical & mechanical systems for tunnels in the Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla rail link project. The the package includes 33kV & 11 kV HT power cable network, GIS substation, DG sets, tunnel lighting, ventilation firefighting systems and SCADA system.

The Mansar Lake Development Plan in Jammu and Kashmir has recently been inaugurated. The project aims to attract almost 20 lakh tourists every year and create employment of 1.15 crore man-days, with an income generation of Rs. 800 crore per year.

The renovation work of the Brari Nambal project work in full swing and almost 80 per cent is completed, while the rest would be completed by November-end. Situated at the entrance of Shahr-e-Khaas in downtown Srinagar, conservation of the lagoon is being funded by government funding agencies including Rs. 16.91 crore from the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

The Power Transmission & Distribution arm of L&T Construction has received two more packages from the implementing agencies of Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link project to provide electrical and mechanical systems for tunnels.

MEIL emerged as the lowest bidder for the Zojila Pass tunnel to provide all-year connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh union territories, under the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL). The Hyderabad-headquartered company had quoted the lowest Rs. 4,509.5 crore for the project, stuck for over six years now.

The Bahu Fort-Mahamaya ropeway project has been inaugurated in Jammu. The project worth Rs. 75 crore was planned in 1995 and to be operated from Bahu Fort to Mubarak Mandi Complex initially. It was modified and relocated when Mubarak Mandi and Bahu Fort were declared protected monuments.
