The undertaking under the Department of Telecommunications has invited expressions of interest to select business associates for the design, installation, and commissioning of 1,000 off-grid solar projects of 3.5 kW capacity each on panchayat ghars in Jammu and Kashmir, inclusive of a maintenance contract.

To facilitate night landing, a newly constructed runway is likely to be commissioned by the end of August at Jammu Airport. It is a full length runway and the operation may be commissioned on directions from the Indian Air Force (IAF) at an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore.

The work on the four-lane Qazigund-Banihal tunnel is going on in full swing and the firm expects to complete it by March-end. The 8.5 km double-tube tunnel will reduce the distance between Banihal and Qazigund by 16 km. The project was awarded by NHAI. Over Rs. 2,000 crore is being spent on this project.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently announced a Rs. 28,400-crore Industrial Development Package 2021, aiming to attract Rs. 20,000 crore of investments and create 4.5 lakh jobs in the Union Territory. He said the Union cabinet sanctioned the package on January 6, and it will remain in force for 17 years.
