May 05, 2022 J&K approved six power infrastructure projects in Jammu Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha dedicated six power infrastructure projects worth Rs 64.10 crore. These projects will add another 660 MVA capacity to the existing power systems in the Jammu region and include new 400 MVA, 220/132 KV power transformer at Gladni Grid Station, besides new 50 MVA, 132/33 KV power transformers each at Gladni, Canal, Bari Brahmana-I; Jaurian and Akhnoor grid stations, an official statement said. Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor said the Gladni grid station has seen long-due capacity augmentation of 400 MVA after almost 14 years. “In addition to the installation of 400 MVA power transformer at 220 KV level, as a major relief to residents of Jammu city, the department has created additional capacity by installing 50 MVA power transformer at 132 KV level at the same grid station, which will particularly cater to the increased summer demand mainly for domestic and commercial purposes.
May 05, 2022 RHPCL, MEIL ink pact for hydel power project Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd (RHPCL) and Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) inked a contract agreement for the turnkey execution of 850-MW Ratle hydel project within a stipulated timeframe. The contract agreement was signed between Deepak Saigal, CEO, RHPCL, and Umamaheswara Reddy, vice president, MEIL, at the Convention Centre here in the presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Speaking on the occasion, Sinha termed the signing as a historic move to realise the goal of making J-K self-sufficient in power sector. We have undertaken a large-scale capacity augmentation programme in the power sector resulting in a huge leap in power transmission and distribution capacity. The new power generation projects like Ratle, Pakal Dul, Kiru etc will bridge a major gap in the UTs electricity requirements, Sinha said. Noting that the 850 MW Ratle power project will provide massive direct and indirect employment opportunities to the local population, the Lt Governor directed the concerned agencies to lay down a comprehensive mechanism for the skilling of the local people which will enable them to avail job opportunities in the execution of the project.

The projects include construction of Traditional Souq Market and Craft Centre at Batamaloo being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 31.22 crores; improvement and upgradation of Batamaloo-Qamarwari Road at the cost of Rs. 14.61 crores and Batamaloo-Mominabad Road costing Rs. 10.24 crores, besides Rs. 25.46 crores worth Gole Market-Karan Nagar Road Redevelopment project. Improvement and upgradation of Batamaloo-Qamarwari Road and Batamaloo-Mominabad Road will feature citizen-centric development works. Further, the Gole Market-Karan Nagar Road Redevelopment project will include several features like Central public plaza for social activities, multi-utility zone, on-street parking bays, etc.
May 05, 2022 BRO to set up new RCC units The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) will be setting up new road construction company (RCC) units and a task force for carrying out various development project work in Ladakh. The BRO chief also asked the Lt Governor for the allotment of land for carrying out various project works in the union territory. Lt Gen Chaudhary briefed Mathur about the BROs ongoing project work in Ladakh, including the Hanuthang-Handanbroke-Zingpal-Turtuk road, status of the detailed project report (DPR) for Kela Pass, construction of Chushul-Demchok road and progress on the Nimoo-Padum-Darcha road on the Sino-Indian border, an official statement said.
