Taking cue from the Centre’s flagship Smart City mission programme to strengthen key public infrastructure projects while plugging air pollution menace, the Delhi government has announced to shell out a whopping Rs 2,388 crore to clear city roads from dust to curb air pollution.

Projects worth over Rs 10,000 crore are expected to be operational within the 10 smart cities of UP within a few months. Racing to meet the June 2023 deadline to meet the objectives stipulated under the Smart City Mission goals, the state government reviewed the progress being made by the urban development department.

A team of entrepreneurs from Singapore has expressed its willingness to invest in upgrading the civic facilities of Lucknow. To discuss their proposal, the team of entrepreneurs visited the city’s Smart City Command Control Centre.

The officials of Uttar Pradesh government signed an agreement with officials of Austin University to build a ‘smart city of knowledge’ project in the state for an investment amounting to $ 42 billion. The investment will be made in installments and the first installment of $ 7 billion will be released and then, the rest will be increased accordingly

Under the smart city project, Srinagar will soon have smart poles across the city with modern facilities attached. The department issued tenders for the same some time ago.

One hundred public toilets are proposed to be made at 50 different places in Nagpur. The project is being undertaken under the Smart City project. Under the project 50 toilets each will be for men and women. Majority of the public toilets will be constructed in marker places.

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation which has already introduced a fleet of electric buses in the city circular service, plans to introduce two electric double-decker buses. This will be a joint initiative of the Smart City Thiruvananthapuram (SCTL) and KSRTC.

The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), the key component of the Smart City Project, will be established in every district of the state. ICCC will support in fetching real-time information and enhance security and surveillance, traffic management, solid waste management, and e-governance applications.

The Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation will deploy 35 electric buses in Marathwada’s largest city by July next year, with the first batch of 15 vehicles hitting the roads in April
