The stations on the newly-commissioned Metro lines 2A and 7 will soon have rooftop solar panels. The MMRDA, which constructed these two Metro lines as a part of its 300 km Metro network in Mumbai Metropolitan Region, proposed setting up of the rooftop solar panels at 13 stations on Line 7.

Under the “Jammu Solar City Mission”, government buildings in the Jammu City will get grid-tied rooftop solar energy plants and the project will be completed before March next year.

India is expected to add 15.5 gigawatt (GW) of new utility-scale solar capacity in the financial year 2023-24 (FY24), given that the Approved List of Module Manufacturers (ALMM) is deferred till March 2024. It said that an additional 2.5 GW to 3 GW is estimated to be added in the rooftop solar segment in FY24.

In a major push to generate solar power based electricity in the city, the Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society (Crest) will install rooftop solar power stations at seven locations in the city with aggregate capacity of 2250 kWp at Rs 13 crore.

Gautam Solar announced the expansion of its G2X series with the launch of 450 Wp solar modules with bigger M10 cells. Gautam Solar’s 450 Wp – M10 Modules are compact in size and weight, which makes it easier to handle particularly in rooftop solar installations.

The World Bank has approved $165 million in additional financing to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar by residential consumers by making it more affordable. The initiative is expected to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 13.9 million tonne

India installed about 5.9 gigawatt (GW) of utility-scale solar capacity in the financial year 2019-20 and is estimated to add another 6.6 GW capacity in FY21, according to a recent report. Capacity of 1.7 GW was installed in the rooftop solar segment in FY20 and projects of 1.4 GW capacity are expected to be commissioned in FY21.

Bids are currently invited in this regard. The completion is targeted in 60 days.
