The Hyderabad-based electric mobility solutions and services company has signed a memorandum with the Telangana government to set up a greenfield manufacturing facility for its range of electric three- wheelers at an investment of Rs. 150 crore. The plant will be built over a period of five years.

SMG has completed construction of its plant No. 3 at Hansalpur, Gujarat, and is starting preparations to commence vehicle manufacturing at the plant from April 2021. Production volume from the plant will depend upon business conditions and market demand.

Hyundai Motor India will invest Rs. 150 crore to set up the Hyundai Academy for Technical Skills near Chennai. The institute will focus on imparting skill training for youth and will come up on 6.45 acres at Irungattukkottai.

MG Motor India, a subsidiary of the SAIC Motors Corporation, is planning to invest an additional Rs. 1,000 crore in the country in the next one year. Some of the investment will be made to augment capacity at its Halol facility in Gujarat. The rest will be used to add value to operations in India through localisation of high-end components, etc.

South Korean electric vehicle maker Edison Motors will invest almost Rs. 5,000 crore to set up a production facility in Uttar Pradesh. The company has proposed to invest Rs. 500-700 crore in Phase-I, Rs. 1,000-1,500 crore in Phase-II and Rs 2,000-3,000 crore in Phase-III of its electric vehicle plant, and is scouting for land near Lucknow.

The first public e-vehicle charging station in East Delhi Patparganj has been inaugurated. The charging station is set up under a partnership between power distribution company BYPL and EV Motors India Pvt Ltd. The station is equipped with two types of chargers, and two vehicles can be charged simultaneously from each charger.

The company has plans to set up its plant at Adityapur Industrial Area, the biggest auto manufacturing hub of Asia, for which it is is gearing up to enter into an agreement with a Jamshedpur-based company. The company will initially launch Completely Built Units (CBU) in India.

Faradion Ltd has partnered with Infraprime Logistics Technologies (IPLTech) for high energy sodium-ion batteries that will be used in commercial vehicles in the Indian market. Faradion is accelerating large scale industrialisation of its safe, low cost sodium-ion energy storage technology.

The company plans to set up around 2,000 EV charging facilities across the country during this financial year. So far, it has installed over 300 such charging stations in India. Recently, the company entered into a MoU with natural gas major GAIL India for the development of such projects.
