Taking cue from the Centre’s flagship Smart City mission programme to strengthen key public infrastructure projects while plugging air pollution menace, the Delhi government has announced to shell out a whopping Rs 2,388 crore to clear city roads from dust to curb air pollution.

The Delhi government is planning to install over 5,000 kerbside charging points for electric vehicles on all major roads in the next three years. Jasmine Shah, Vice Chairperson, Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi (DDCD) convened a meeting on the implementation of kerbside charging for EVs in Delhi.

The Delhi government aims to convert its entire transport fleet to electric vehicles in the next 25 years, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has said. According to him, Delhi has implemented possibly the world's most progressive electric vehicle policy, and the share of electric vehicles has increased from 0.2 per cent to 2.21 per cent.

The Delhi governmentplans to introduce a single window approval system for Delhi powerdistribution companies. Public Works Department (PWD) is designatedas the nodal agency to give approvals.
