Nissan Motor Co and Renault SA would invest Rs 5,300 crore in India to launch six models, including two electric vehicles (EV). The companies announced a new long-term plan for India that will increase production, scale up research and development and shift to carbon-neutral manufacturing.

Storage battery maker and distributor Sunlit Power has collaborated with Lucas TVS under which it will supply 50,000 electric vehicle motors and controllers manufactured by TVS group company to various industries.

Tata Power has kicked off an ambitious nationwide plan of setting up around 25,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging points to support faster adoption of electric mobility over the next five years. The company said its charging initiatives are in line with the government's National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP), which aims to develop EV charging infrastructure using the latest technological platform along with easy access to charging points.

JSW Group is considering a foray into the manufacturing of electric vehicles. The group had examined EV manufacturing plans earlier also but now it is becoming attractive. The group is looking to manufacture four-wheelers.

Ola is planning to start its own electric vehicle (EV) cab service and will begin the pilot in Bengaluru with around 1,000 cabs. It will be available on the Ola app as a separate category along with regular cabs and auto service. The company eventually plans to scale up the number of EV cabs to over 10,000 in one year in the city.

Hero Motors is looking at investing Rs 1,500 crore over the next three years to strengthen its play in the burgeoning market for electric vehicle components as developed nations across the world accelerate the shift to zero emission vehicles to allay environmental concerns.

Murugesh Nirani, Large and Medium Scale Industries Minister, informed the Assembly that a Russian company has evinced interest in setting up an electric vehicle plant in the state and the government has asked them to set it up in Belagavi. Nirani said a delegation from the company met him recently and the government convinced it to set up the plant in Tier 2 cities.
