May 05, 2022 BEL awarded two defence contracts worth Rs 3,102 crore The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed two contracts worth Rs 3,102 crore with the Bengaluru and Hyderabad units of the Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), in New Delhi. The MoD and the BEL-Bengaluru concluded the contract for the supply of Advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) suite for fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force. The overall cost is estimated to be Rs 1,993 crore, as per a statement from BEL. According to the public sector undertaking, the supply of advanced EW systems would significantly enhance the battle-survivability of the fighter aircraft while undertaking operational missions against adversaries’ ground-based as well as airborne fire control and surveillance radars. The EW suite has been indigenously designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The MoD signed the contract with the BEL-Hyderabad for Instrumented Electronic Warfare Range (IEWR) for the Air Force. The contract was a significant step towards enhancing the capabilities of the IAF to prepare for future warfare. The overall cost of the contract would be Rs 1,109 crore.

Jan 20, 2020 Commissioned Phase I of RTIS for the Railways Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has successfully commissioned Phase I of the Real Time Train Information System (RTIS). The system has been commissioned through the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS), under the technical guidance of Space Applications Centre (SAC), ISRO. RTIS provides real-time positional information of locomotives to the Railways. It facilitates automatic acquisition of train movement data, including that of arrival, departure and run-through timings, at the stations en route. The control chart of trains, which has RTIS-enabled locomotives, gets plotted automatically in the Control Office Application (COA) system of the Railways. The RTIS project involved installation of Locomotive Device, which tracks the location of trains using S-Band Mobile Satellite Service (S-MSS) of ISRO’s GSAT 6 satellite as well as 4G/3G mobile data service, setting up of MSS Hub and Data Centre with hardware and application software at the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), Chanakyapuri.

Public sector defence major is building new advanced night vision products factory and plans to set up a dedicated defence systems integration complex at Palasamudram in Anantapur. BEL aims to touch Rs 10,000 crore turnover from Rs. 8,825 crore.

The order of 8.5 lakh EVM each is placed with BEL and ECIL at a combined cost of Rs 3,100 crore. The order needs to complete by September, 2018.
