The Essel Group, one of Indias largest business conglomerates and a front runner in developing the Smart City Framework for India, has recently entered into technology transfer pacts with three leading German firms during its participation at the worlds largest trade fair Hannover Messe 2015 in Germany. This will boost the groups solar, wind energy and waste water management projects in India.

In the last couple of years due to economic slowdown and fall in overall traffic, the build operate transfer (BOT) road projects have gone out of favour and EPC is preferred. As per road sector review in the Economic Survey 2014-15, the reduced revenue realization in case of BOT projects owing to low traffic has adversely affected debt servicing by concessionaires.

Angul-Sukinda railway link project is under implementation in public private partnership (PPP) model. The state government has signed a concession agreement under PPP model with consortium of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) and Koya & Company Construction Ltd for bulk water supply project in Bhubaneswar. The project on completion, will supply water to renowned institutions such as IIT Bhubaneswar and NISER; industrial establishments like Infocity-II, Sea Food Park at Deras well as to the Towns of Khordha and Jatani.
