The West Bengal government is spending large on the infrastructure development of the state. The infrastructure spending has increased from Rs.1,758 crore in the year 2011 to Rs. 9,553 crore in 2019. The development of logistics infrastructure within the Kolkata city metropolitan area has received adequate attention from the World Bank, which has submitted a conceptual master plan in this regard. The estimated cost is to the tune of close to $300 million, likely to be funded by the World Bank. The focus will be on multimodal logistics development, including rail and road.
