The Government of Maharashtra government is keen to fast track adoption of electric vehicles in the state. The state government is promoting a policy to promote electric vehicles and aims to bring Rs 25,000-crore investment for the manufacturing of EVs. The Maharashtra state PWD department had signed an MoU with EESL in May 2018 to procure e-vehicles on rent. The MoU also envisages manufacturing such vehicles and their spare parts. Recently, five e-vehicles procured on rent from Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) were handed over to the PWD department. The state government is looking forward to set up two charging stations each will be set up in Mantralaya (Mumbai) and Nagpur for these vehicles.
