New express highways and elevated roads in major cities
The Government of India is building new express highways and elevated roads in major cities to ease traffic at a cost of Rs 46,000 crore. The projects under execution as part of this initiative include Eastern Peripheral Expressway costing Rs 10,500 crore, Delhi-Meerut Expressway costing Rs 5,000 crore. Dwarka Expressway project costing Rs 10,500 crore has certain stretches under DPR and tendering stage. The other projects include Madhuravayol-Chennai Port road project, Urban extension road, Satellite Ring Road along with Hosur Ring Road are in DPR stages.
