Sep 30, 2013 4000 MW solar power plant Plans to set up 4000 MW solar power plant over 20,000 acre of land belonging to Hindustan Salt at Sambhar in Rajasthan. Five central public sector undertakings (CPSUs) including BHEL, PowerGrid Corporation, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, Solar Energy Corporation, and Hindustan Salts would undertake this project. Initially 1000 MW capacity is targeted at an investment of Rs 7,500 crore. Remaining 3,000 MW will be developed in six phases of 500 MW each. The operation and management contract for this project is to be awarded to Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments. The commissionining is expected in three years.
